Introduction to Signature via Graphic Tablet
In the upcoming releases, the ability to sign intervention reports with a graphic tablet will be introduced. Currently, it is only possible to sign this type of document, but there are plans to add signatures for other sections such as estimates, contracts, and a form for acknowledging the privacy policy.
This integration was born from a project for one of our clients, a physiotherapy clinic for which we structured the management of medical records and related billing for healthcare services to eliminate paper in favor of the environment 🌳 and thus keep all documentation in digital form.
At the beginning of the development, there was an initial study phase in which we verified whether the integration was feasible by analyzing the different devices and their compatibility. This was indeed an unexplored field for us, and we are committed to formalizing the start of a project with new technologies only after ensuring their functionality.
Through these tests, we defined the following requirements:
- the browser must support HID. Go to the HID browser compatibility table
- the connection must be secure (https)
- currently tested with the graphic tablet Wacom Signature STU540
The signature via graphic tablet is useful when there is a need to sign essential documents for the onboarding of patients/clients, such as the privacy form, informed consent, and the record of services performed. Documents that are essential within a medical file but that each year, multiplied by the number of clients, take up enormous space in archives and negatively impact the environment.
From this development, we wondered how many other activities could make the same choice, definitively eliminating paper archives, and we decided to make this integration available starting from the next release of OpenSTAManager.
